Good News Team Prayer Update June 2023

Recent Events

From Win

challengedEvery time we do our outreach program in a school, we tell the same story, but it is a powerful story. We get excited and challenged every time we tell this amazing story! In June we will go to schools in two areas where we have not been before:
- June 12-16: In Nakhon Ratchasima province (in south Thailand) - going to 6 schools
- June 20-23: In Ang Thong province (in central Thailand) – going to 6 schools

Please pray that God will open the eyes and understanding of children and teachers so that they can experience the love of Jesus. And may God help many children be able to start learning about Him with us.

Thank you for praying for our time in Sisaket province last month when we helped with a football tournament there. Four schools joined for this tournament, and at the end of the tournament we were able to bring the gospel to all the children. Please pray for each child who heard about Jesus there.

passion for young peopleFrom Kanchana

My desire is to see a new generation of Thai young adults with a passion to evangelise Thai Buddhist children. We are praying for new team members who carry this burden for children in unreached areas. Also please pray for my mother to grow in her faith in Jesus, and for others in my family to also turn to Jesus. Please pray too for the young people in Nonthaburi Church (FahSai club) to grow as disciples of Jesus.

From Jean and Mew (in our Lesson Department)

big responsibilityNew Lessons
Please pray for us as we prepare more lessons in our third set of lessons, “Together”. In this series (set 3) we show the children that life is like a long journey and that they need to think about how to prepare for this journey and about how Jesus can be their helper and His word can be their guide. In this lesson we also let children know that they don’t have to walk alone, and we explain how the Holy Spirit can teach and guide them. This is really a lot to teach them, please pray for God to help us as we write these lessons.

A new opportunity
We have recently connected with the Thai Juvenile Detention Centre, which has centres in each of the 77 provinces of Thailand. We introduced our big responsibilitylessons as a way to help young people learn about how to live with good morals and ethics and live in the ways of God. 10 of these Juvenile Detention Centres have now contacted us and provided the details for a total of 188 children in their centres who they would like to begin doing our Bible lessons. An 18-year-old girl in one of these detention centres wrote to us saying….
During my time here I have felt quite homesick. I think of everyone outside, and I want to be free. But there are some advantages to being here. Sometimes it is fun here, sometimes it is boring, but I have new friends, and I am learning new things. I have time to rethink my past decisions and think of a better future.

Please pray for these children, whose past decisions have led them down wrong paths, that they will begin to seek Jesus and to live productive lives. Pray they will turn to Jesus and ask for Him to lead their lives. Pray God will continue to guide us in this project, and that we will have sufficient resources for them.

Sending our evangelistic cartoon booklets to schools in south Thailand.
South Thailand is the most Muslim region in the country. We will send packets of these booklets to schools in this area from June through till September. May God open the hearts of teachers and students to accept the story of Jesus. Many small schools here have needed to close, and we have had a number of these packets of booklets returned to us so we now send inquiry forms to schools electronically in order to make sure we can connect with the school, and then send the booklets afterwards. Thailand has 53 “welfare schools”, which are boarding schools at which the children learn, eat and sleep. Please pray with us that each of these schools would be interested in helping their children do our Bible lessons.

sore armMedia Department (Nut and Nana)

part timeWe thank God for His help in our current video work. All of our online platforms are seeing more and more young people following our videos. Please pray for Nut and Nana as they do this very important work. Nana is part-time, as she is still studying, her role is to come up with the content and plan many different types of clips. Nut asks for your prayers as he is experiencing a lot of pain in his left arm. (This arm was broken and operated on when he was a child, but as yet it has not healed properly.)

enjoying opportunity

From Bai

I thank God that I’ve had the opportunity to study at Bible School this year. Now during the 2-month term break I’m back working with the Good News Team. Please pray for me as I serve God in this way, and I also help in the Nonthaburi Church.
