Rahab Reflections July 2022
Recent Events
In June we were able to start outreaching into Patpong again after almost two years.
Joining with Newsong Church
On the 25th June and again on the 30th July, Rahab joined with Newsong Church for outreach into the Patpong community and a time of worship. Rahab has the contacts as many bar girls were coming regularly to Rahab for bible study prior to Covid.
We met at Newsong who meet on the third floor of our building for coffee and cake while the worship team practiced for their evening service. Sixteen people came in June and 28 in July. Some of them are new to us at Rahab.
The aim is for those who have become Christians to integrate into Newsong Church. Once a month they will meet on a Saturday which works better for Patpong people.
Fellowship at Rahab
On the 30th July, after meeting at Newsong everyone went upstairs to Rahab. It was a good opportunity for those new to Rahab to see where we are. Many of those who come regularly to bible study said how happy they are now Rahab is open. Some of them arrived very early; keen to be back.
Yu is one of the Mama San on Patpong and she shared a testimony about how God has been helping her care for Oey in her bar. Oey was admitted to hospital dangerously anaemic but is well enough to be discharged now. Please pray for her as the doctors do not know what caused her anaemia and are assessing her for Leukaemia.
Sharing God's love on Patpong
On both occasions, everyone went downstairs to give out food to people on Patpong street. The women had so much fun sharing with whoever walked, rode or drove down the street. They also took food to their friends in the bars who were unable to join us.
Rahab Catering provides the food boxes that are given out.
Rahab Bazaar
Prai and Pon have been working on a big order of crochet toys for the US. Pon comes in twice a week, otherwise works from home. We would like to have more people able to crochet for our orders as they take a long time to complete each toy.
We have had a couple of teams visit recently who have enjoyed shopping at Rahab.
