Chad McNair
Board Chair

Chad McNair began his first liquid coffee extract business in 1988 in Houston, Texas while designing highways by day and attending graduate school at night. The concept was re-launched in 1993 in San Antonio, Texas with a full-time commitment to the enterprise focused on food service and commercial applications for coffee extracts. Aspen Beverage Group grew into a significant international player serving as a contract manufacturer to major branded coffee labels, restaurant chains, grocers, club retailers, bottlers, roasters, and distributors. After 24 years of growing Aspen Beverage to become the largest Cold Brew Coffee manufacturer globally, McNair sold the company in 2017 to a London based multinational. With the proceeds from the sale, McNair formed a family office focused on philanthropy and partnering in new business ventures in manufacturing, real estate, oil and gas, resorts and hospitality, medical devices, robotics, aerospace, and technology. McNair also enjoys mentoring young entrepreneurs and serves on a variety of for-profit and non-profit boards.

McNair has a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois and an MBA in finance from the University of Houston. He began his career as part of a large consulting engineering group in Houston and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Texas.

Chad is a licensed commercial pilot, Eagle Scout, and grandfather to one really cute little girl. He enjoys hunting, skiing, Bible study and business. He has been married to Dr. Shelly McNair for 37 years. Dr. McNair is a partner with Southwest Children’s Center where she practices pediatrics. Chad & Shelly have two sons, one working in private wealth management and the other employed in food science, and a married daughter, also a pediatrician, completing her pediatric cardiology fellowship at the University of Michigan.

Cynthia Ferris
Board Member

Cynthia a Christ follower with a passion for missions and women. Her pursuits since her four sons left home have been as an ambassador and an advocate for the marginalized and underserved.

Cynthia and her late husband Pat were members of two EFCA churches, both of which placed a high priority on missions, both locally and globally. She also spent 20 years as a co-leader in a bereavement ministry, walking that difficult process of loss with church members. Cynthia served for 11 years in a women’s mentoring program and for 13 years, was a secretary in the Christian school her boys attended.

Often in these past 20 years Cynthia has been involved in fundraising and networking for various ministries. One of her greatest joys has been involvement with a faith-based pregnancy resource center that serves the women, men and children of her community. She is also currently a leader in a faith-based recovery program sponsored by her church.

A presentation by Bright Hope World's Executive Director in 2025 "lit a fire" in her for Bright Hope World for many reasons, but especially for the criteria Bright Hope World uses to link arms with potential partners and for the leadership’s willingness to do their work without remuneration.
