serving GodUpdate from Chrissy and Sue Lukanga

To all our friends and partners,

Greetings from the land of Pemba, Mozambique. We are excited and grateful to God for the work, and to you all for your prayers and support. Slowly the Pemba church is moving step by step. We recently had a baptism service of eight new believers which took place in the Indian ocean and it was very exciting to see these people committing their lives through water baptism.

Recent Events

Palma Church

The continuous Alshababu attacks on Mocimboa and Palma Districts is making it difficulty for most activities in the whole province and especially the affected areas. This has slowed down our plans. We have already bought land in Palma and we are working on legalising it. We are also sensing that to have that work established there is the need for one of us (Jose & Tania or us) to move and be based there early the coming year. However this comes with the challenges of support, especially for Jose and Tania.

Grinding Mill

Praise the Lord for the grinding mill funded by BMTZ. We are yet to install it as we need to build somewhere to put it. It is therefore still a long way before we can begin to help in a small way people like Jose with the produce from it.

Children's Programmes

The children's work continues on even though we still have that Muslim confusion. We are praying and doing everything possible to revive it. For example on the first Sunday of June it will be children’s Sunday and the whole service will be led by the Sunday school. We plan to invite the parents of those who are coming and also the children in the neighbourhood.

spreading the good newsEvangelism

There are 17 Districts in this province of Cabo-delgado and our cry and desire is to see that at least we have a witness in every District. The training and equipping not only Biblically but also tradewise of those who would be involved is very critical. The skills part of training is for tent making and self supporting in the case of not having support. Later on those in the District would consider villages of their Districts. So training and equipping of workers is key and shall be a contínuous process worthy of considering investing in.

Personal

Ikumba goes back to Zambia mid June. Luwi goes for schooling to Zambia next year even though we have not yet found a school for him. Katendi and Sonia are still with us here.

Ilunga goes back to school on 07/05/18 after a month long holiday.

Thank you for praying for us, the whole ministry and for the peace of Cabo-delgado.

All the love,

Chrissy and Sue
