Update from Chrissy Lukanga

great coupleWarm greetings from the ever warm and beautiful shores of the mighty Indian ocean of Pemba, Mozambique.

Our heart felt thanks to you, all our wonderful and faithful partners, for your continued prayers, support to us and for having a share in this work.

Recent Events

Pemba English Christian School

We believe one of the other ways of evangelizing and influencing Islamic communities especially on a long term basis is to have believers (men & women) of integrity and influence in places of authority and hence the idea of Pemba English Christian School (PECS).

- Will be a boarding school
- A tool for evangelism and discipleship
- To influence the future leadership and destiny of this country with the gospel of Christ
- To influence the children of today who are the leaders of tomorrow with the gospel of Christ

Please join us in realising and establishing this school for the betterment of our world.

We have acquired land a bit outside of Pemba in a village called Ngalane. We also have an approved plan for the school and most important of all is the authorization for the construction of the school from the Government.

We are looking forward to work with any of those who are teachers by profession and feel called to serve God even those who want to contribute or serve as Christian volunteer teachers for both long and short term services.

The Church

The church is doing very well and we are very grateful to everyone of you who are praying for this work here. This environment does not just need mere words but the manifestation of the power of God as the word is preached even as Paul could say to the Corinthian believers in 1Cor 2:4 "My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power." Pemba needs God’s visitation.

Due to a prevalence of many health challenges we have decided to have health talks twice every month included in our Sunday services. These are presented by three people from the Ministry of Health who are also members of the church.

There are a lot of construction things still going on like working on windows and doors to the main hall, the children’s church at the back of the main hall, construction of a wall/fence at the front of the church for security, water proofing the building to prevent water from entering into the church hall, addition of chairs, and electrical wiring of the place. We are still far from done but the encouraging thing is the active participation and response of the people towards these projects.

loves othersMedical Ministry

Sue and two others ladies from our church went out to one of the villages which has been hit with an outbreak of pulga, commonly known as matequenha. It is heart breaking to see the photos. We bought a few bottles of medicine and a few other materials and the following morning as early as possible they were on the road  to that village, arriving back around 1900 hrs only because they had run out of  materials and medicines. Sue is always with patients in homes and at hospital bedsides.
