Update from Chrissy and Sue

Dear all our friends and partners, 

Warm greetings from us here in the land of Pemba, the provincial capital of Cabo-Delgado in Mozambique. Thanking you all very much for all your prayers and support. 

Recent Events

Church in Pemba

The church in Pemba is doing very well. Our Sunday service attendance has really increased and because of this we have attached a tent to the main building as a means of creating some more space. This is just a temporary means as the space inside the building cannot permit everyone in. The idea is later on, when the Lord provides us with the funds, to expand the building in order to create enough seating capacity.  

New Work

We are very much excited to inform you all of the new work going on in Marrupa Niassa province as the work is doing very well and we are very excited about this. The interesting thing is that it is in a very strong Muslim area amongst the Yao People. They have just asked us for some iron sheets for the church building as they plan to put up a church structure later on during the year. 

Terrorism Attacks

The terrorism attacks continue to destroy and disrupt both families and lives of innocent people. Especially now with the resurgence of COVID-19 the situation has become really very difficult for the government and everyone else in this province. People need shelter, food and any other help, especially some sustainable help for those who could probably run a small business like selling in the market or farming outside Pemba etc. Last year, with all your help and support, we were able to do some shelters like the one pictured right and food distribution (photo below) for some internally disciplaced families. This good work has brought about the recognition of the ministry by the local authority and the community.               

Personal 

We are very grateful to God and to you all for being there for us all the time. Ikumba is farming in  Katembula, Zambia. He has gotten some hectares of land there however things have not really picked up there. Sonia is here at the moment to pick her language. Ilunga still wants to continue with some studies but up to now he is not sure what to do, sports is really on his mind (athletics and football). Luwi is in Zambia. Unfortunately Amano School could not take him because his English is not good enough and they do not offer Portuguese which he speaks and writes very fluently. We are therefore still looking for a better school for him.

Sue is having some good times working and helping a group of 15 to 20 young girls once per month. They meet and have time to study the word and pray together. This is because of the cultural traditions the girls are subjected to during their initiation ceremonies and Sue is discipling these girls because the tradition here is still very strong amongst the families.  

Current Issues and Challenges

Our vehicle needs to undergo general repairs and maintenance if we are to keep it on the road because of suspension related problems.
