Report from Nabin Darlami

Recent Events

Last three months

Teams from different places of our nation have shared the gospel to 375 people according to collected reports from them. 482 different types of gospel tracts have been distributed. 16 people have been baptised. 14 people have taken gospel training through SOWERS method. 70 pastors and leaders have taken leadership refreshment training of three days in partnership with and coordination by SOWERS Nepal, Gospel Recording Nepal & Nepal Christian Society.

Our country has been divided into seven states now. Local village development committee elections happened in three states four weeks ago and the next second phase election will happen after two weeks in four States. So election violence environments have affected the whole nation, stopping all situations, but we are doing gospel activities slowly. The whole nation is concentrating on elections in these months.

New Profiles

Hishe Tamang and Prakash Baraili have joined with us in our team in West Nepal. Hishe is an orphan boy who grew up from childhood in Sunday School in our church fellowship. He has done Discipleship Training for five months. Prakash Baraili was the team leader of Surkhet DTS and he and his wife are starting new DTS training in Jumla. Both of them were trained in SOWERS methods by us.

They are using SOWERS methods in evangelism. Hishe is living in Mugu and Prakash is living in Jumla and they are focusing on evangelism for Himalayan and mountain districts from their place.

Hishe is from Tamang tribes and he speaks the Mugali language. His tribes and village people speak the Mugali language which is close to the Tibetan language and it is a different language from the common Tamang language. So we are focusing on reaching for Christ the Mugali Tamang people who live in the north part of Mugu district. These two brothers, Hishe and Prakash, have joined with us in our leadership team since the last report.

Brother Dinesh Chand from Pokhara is also together with us in our leadership team and he is a good worker for God’s kingdom in our team from Mid Nepal.

Hishe is a young man, is unmarried and his mother is a widow as his father died when he was a child. His mother can’t understand our Nepali language. She speaks only the Mugali language. She has a small tea shop in a village. This family lives two days distance by walking from the center of Mugu which is close to Tibet. Hishe is very keen on gospel presentation. He is living in the center bazaar of Mugu nowadays. We are planning to go to his village to reach his village people for Christ.

Prakash Baraili is the son of a deacon from our Christian Church Itram which is my home church. He went to Jumla last year to start DTS training as God has inspired them. He is a married man and this couple has a son. His wife is Sonu and the son’s name is Prasant. Prasant is growing and going to school to study in grade 3 this year. Prakash knows a missionary from DTS mission. He is doing faith ministry and this couple does not have regular financial support but God is showing His favor to them. Hishe does not have financial support either but God is feeding him. He is planning to marry also. He is doing a good ministry. This is their family situations. They are joining in local churches in Jumla and Mugu. They are voluntarily contributing their time and doing ministry for gospel sharing in partnership with SOWERS International with us so we are together in most of times to preach Christ.

Partnership's Influence within the Community

We have heard comments from the community in regard to the impact the project is having. The community of churches and Christian leaders say that the SOWERS evangelism methods are very effective methods to win souls in huge numbers easily in a short time by sharing multi tools. They say that it has practical and usable unique methods for evangelism.

Current Issues and Challenges

In Salayan district a pastor and his wife have been in prison for 9 months because they preached Christ to the people direct without making acceptable environments according to accusations by government lawyers. Their children are in a children’s home in Kathmandu. We Christian communities are taking the initiative to rescue them from prison. Their cows and goats have died in their living place because of a lack of food and attention. We got this message 2-3 weeks from the time they were carried off to prison. They need clothes, pocket expenses, medicines, food for their family members and money also to fight through this case. So pray for them.

Election effects are not easy in our nation. First terminal election has been done in three states. The second terminal election is going to held among four states on the first week of July so its effects are not easy. Many places are doing strikes from some political groups too so pray for us to have peaceful elections without violence.

We team members have to visit different places to give seminars and for church planting so we need finance for it. Pray for us to have enough funding for evangelism trips.

We have established 15 churches and fellowships now. We are challenged to take a rented room for a fellowship. We have to buy land for the fellowship and also need to build a hall for the fellowship. So pray for us to have enough funding for those needy points.

We want to help to the poor students to provide scholarships, help the widows and homeless/helpless people, so please pray for it too.

There is a Bhateghari village two hours distance by vehicle far from Surkhet valley where there is a church fellowship of 50 people. During the last four months there has been some kind of mystical events that raise fire automatically in grass roof houses and houses have been burned. Maybe these events happen because of demonic power. Police and CDO also went there and they looked at the fire burn event and they told its amazing. According to our understanding it is happening by demonic power but our Christian families’ houses are safe so that is a great miracle. So far 25 houses have been burned. It would be good to carry help to those whose houses are missing. They are living on open ground. Pray for those who have lost their homes that they will be provided with help like tents, rice, clothes etc.

Flood-affected people are living in tents but these are becoming old and damaged so they are under the problem in the rainy time now. 305 families are living without a home in the forest and on the ground. These people were affected by floods two years ago. So pray for them and the provision of those needs.
