Missionary Report May 2017

“We are the only representatives of God on this earth and we simply can’t take our time to decide who requires help and who doesn’t.  Everyone needs it”  Jim Cymbala

February

In February I was involved in helping at the Missions Centre in Pariachi, Lima, cleaning the place with members of the Segadores board and Eufemia and her daughters.  Also on the Saturdays I was teaching around 30 children at the Sunday school in Pariachi. We also celebrated birthdays for some of the children which was a blessing.

March

I continued to help with the hard work at the Missions centre in Pariachi along with the Segadores board and those from Pariachi. The activities that we were involved in were sanding and painting the walls, doors and windows. Even though my health wasn’t great this didn’t stop me from doing these activities because I know that everything that I did is for the Lord and there was a great result. When I returned to my house I got caught in the hard workHuaycoloro river floods. I was very sad and it was difficult but thanks to God I reached my house fighting all the way with the strength God gave me.

April

I went on a trip to the Aoti community with Antonia to continue teaching the Word of God with the material ‘the book of life’ that speaks about the value and self-esteem of the children. It is a great joy to teach His Word to the children and see what great importance they put on the teachings. This encourages me more every day to see that they are learning and even more that they are leaving behind their previous beliefs.

At the same time we went to another Ashaninka community, Chontakiari, where they have opened the door with lots of enthusiasm in the school for us to teach the children with the topic of Firm Foundations.  We are teaching lesson four about the creation of the heavens and the earth.

It is a joy that Victor and his son, Romulo, are coming every Sunday at 6am to the Chontakiari community. It is a two hour trip in order to take the service (a church plant) and there are 15 people who attend.

We well know that these people have a hunger for the Word of God and we will not cease the opportunity to teach them.

In Aoti the Sunday school teachers have their activities from time to time to raise funds and in this way they are able to buy food for the children to be able to eat on the Sundays.  There are three families who have the initiative to work and it gives us a lot of joy to see the work they are forging away at. The men go to another community nearby to sell the ítems and come back quickly with the credit.

Personal

While on the trip to the Aoti community I started to feel faint like the world was spinning around, and I couldn’t stop it. Sometimes when I was walking I was afraid I was going to fall over.  Also a pain started in my leg and I couldn’t walk. I give thanks to Antonia who helped me apply to go to the health centre. I felt fine but when I was returning to Lima and Pichanaki again I started to feel dizzy. I didn’t tell Antonia so that she wouldn’t worry but I was praying to God that He would remove the discomfort during the trip.  I know that God heard my prayers and I felt well when we arrived in the city of Lima.  In Lima I went to the doctor and he diagnosed that I have high blood pressure.

Prayer and Praise Points

1) For the Ashaninka children that every day they will show more interest in the Word of God
2) That God will provide for my medical check-ups
3) That God will continue giving me the opportunity to continue serving Him within the tribes
4) That God will provide Bibles in an easy to understand language for the Chontakiari community

I am grateful for your prayers for me and the team who work with me.

Blessings
Cristina Salas
