Update from Lorraine Dierck Following Visit to Thailand

This is just a short report from my recent ministry trip to Thailand. I was so very encouraged to see Muangtong Church full of so many new believers who are coming to Christ every Sunday. New classes are now running on Saturday evenings to disciple the large number of new believers. Last month one of the leaders was teaching about the power of the blood of Jesus, and a lady with a life-threatening disease heard for the first time that Jesus defeated all the powers of Satan on the cross, including sickness. She believed the message with all her heart, and right at that moment, she was instantly and dramatically healed. The church rejoiced as she gave her testimony. God is wonderfully transforming the lives of these people who had lived in the fear, bondage and darkness of Buddhism but are now starting a new life with Jesus.

Prasert Taskin / Top Kids (THA01b/c)

My dear colleague Prasert is now working in two places, at the House of Hope in Tungsonghong as well as a new slum resettlement community called Thai Samut where she is starting another House of Hope. Her two main helpers at Thai Samut both came to Christ as young children through Prasert’s Top Kids program, and they have stayed faithful to the Lord. As they shared their testimonies at Thai Samut village, they found each other and decided to ask Prasert to start a Top Kids programme in their village. Prasert says the people’s hearts have been impacted by the testimonies of these two ladies, and the whole community is open. More families are attending the Sunday church at Tungsonghong, and the girl with the guitar in the photo is practicing to lead worship.

John and Nok Pramuan (THA08)

Nok and John have a dream to see thousands of Thais following Jesus. Currently they are working in a village in Suphanburi exploring what it takes to see a whole Buddhist village turn to Christ. Right now there are 16 young adults, 30 older adults and 25 children meeting together in people’s homes. As they worship, pray and study the scriptures together, God is doing miracles among them. Mrs Sawang who was blind from cataracts over both eyes experienced the cataracts being gradually and miraculously removed so that she can now see very clearly. Nok and John’s goal is that by the end of 2019 this entire village of around 1,000 people will have become followers of Jesus.

Chuenjit Mangkaew (THA07)

exciting timeChuenjit has just returned to Bangkok from a mission trip to Laos and she is excited at what the Lord is doing through the small church she connected with. Chuenjit ran a “Simply the Story” seminar, where she trained the people how to use stories for evangelism and discipleship. Even though it is somewhat risky in Laos to share your faith, the people were so inspired that they went out to tell their testimonies to people in the market and ended up praying with people who hadn’t heard about Jesus before.

The Holy Spirit is continuing to bless the work that Chuenjit is doing in the Youth Remand prisons, ably assisted by Joshua who is one of the first young prisoners to give his life to Christ through Chuenjit’s ministry. The photo shows Joshua baptising Mann, Toon and Namon who all have become Christians while they were in the Youth Remand prison. Joshua is discipling them using Following Jesus materials.

Thank you once again for your faithful and encouraging prayer support for our work among Thai people.

Many blessings
Lorraine
