Update from Agape Migrant Centre

Dear brothers and sisters at Bright Hope World,

Greetings from Rome.

During the past calendar year our local church in Rome (Via Cassaro), with the help of just three people from three other local churches, has been heavily involved in running (voluntarily staffing) the Centro Agape per Migranti located in Via del Grano (Alessandrino area). Through that centre we have been able to gradually build relationships, between March 2016 and December 2016, through the voluntary teaching of Italian and English language to migrants and refugees from the following nations: Afghanistan, Pakistan, China, Bangladesh and India.

The year culminated with our Christmas program on the 22nd of December in which, through word and song, we were able to present the “Reason for the Season”. Bilingually on that day we were able to explain (or begin to explain) the reason for Jesus' birth to all present (most of our students were present that day). Alan and Marco, my sons, with voluntary teacher Franca, participated in the presentation by singing “We are the Reason” in Italian.

The work is definitely growing. We are having constant contacts with Afghans - something unheard of until a few months ago. Also we have two recent new enrolments for Italian lessons - one man from Ghana and one man from Pakistan, both directly from a local Refugee Center.

We wish to thank you for your faithful support during the year 2016 and for what you have already pledged to give for the whole of the calendar year which has just commenced.

Yours in Christ,

Andrew Diprose
