Good News Team Prayer Update October 2017

“Learning more about God’s love is like having a flower growing in my heart”
(from one teen girl’s letter this month)

Recent Events

Cartoon Booklet

The cartoon booklet is now being printed and will go to children on the outreaches during the rest of this year. It looks great! Thank you for praying for this.

Children/Teens Studying the Bible Lessons

Please pray especially for those children who have just started or started long ago but then something came up and they didn’t get further after the initial lessons. Now it’s the school holiday time and with less intense weekly schedules many children and teens have more time for this. Pray for the lessons to reach the ‘good soil’ of children’s hearts.

Pray for each child whose letters you see below, and also others not mentioned here. The teen years/young adult years are equally challenging all around the world; pray that these young people will be able to make good choices and learn to lean on God’s word in their relationships, school, and different family situations. Pray also for God’s protection over every one of them.

English Camp 10-13 October

100 children and teens, including the Fahsai Club gang, will gather together for a camp in Bangkok this week. NoiNon and Jeen will be there, Noinon is also teaching.

younger generationPray for all the children and the teachers/camp staff, and that the atmosphere would be saturated with the Holy Spirit’s presence so that God’s word will reach the children’s hearts.

New generation of Thai pastors

NoiNon is the vice chairman of the youth committee in the Bangkok area and the last week of September he met with other youth leaders around Thailand to plan the Full Gospel Churches’ youth ministry on the national level.

Please pray for these young generation leaders, for their unity and that their vision about discipling and equipping young Christians can go forward according to God’s will.

Team

mourning kingPlease pray for everyone in the Team that we would experience the joy of the Lord every day. Pray that we would be able to listen to what the Holy Spirit speaks to us, and that we would be nourished by the word of God.

(The year long mourning after the death of King Rama IX will end with a cremation cermony on 25-29 October thus everyone is instructed to wear black throughout this month.)

Back in August it was great to have time with Valerie when she was back with our Team in Thailand. We really appreciate her insights and encouragement, and all her tireless work for the Team even now when she’s retired (sort of) in New Zealand.

good to be back

We had our advisory board meeting while she was here and one thing we’re praying for is to find one more member to come on the board. We are asking God to send us a senior Thai Christian with wisdom and heart for children and this ministry who can give Godly advice and help the Team in different matters.

Personal Stories

Letters received last month

Lalita (girl, 15): I’m the only Christian in my family, and every time I go home my mum makes me go to the temple. I don’t want to pray to the idols so I don’t do that. Please pray for my family too.

Jaruwan (girl, 16): I got some strong cleaning detergent in my eye while cleaning and it was very painful. I prayed, washed my eyes and it wasn’t hurting anymore. God hears prayers! Please pray for me, that I could catch up with my peers with studies, and understand better. Also for my health, I’m ill too often.

Viphada (girl, 16): I’ve given the Bible lessons registration form to all my friends and other children in my community, and everyone tells how much they like to study the lessons!

Wasana (girl, 19): I once lost an item that was very valuable for my mum. I was scared that she would scold me, and I cried and prayed for Jesus to help me. A real miracle happened and I found the item in its previous place! One more thing, can you please explain what it means when we start our prayer saying, ‘Our father in heaven’?

Sunisa (girl, 14): One day my friends had a big fight and made me the judge between them. I prayed and asked God to help them become friends again and stop quarreling. After several days the situation cleared and they are now good and loving friends. Thus I chose God, he can help.

Suphaphon (girl, 10): One day I was anxious to see my mum, I didn’t know when she would come to see me. Then the next Sunday she came, thank you God!

Wilaiphon (girl, 10): I will take the Bible you sent and let my teacher read it. She doesn’t know God yet. I will also tell her about faith.

Wiphada (girl, 15): Studying the Bible makes my faith grow stronger and gives me hope so that I can overcome the challenges of life.
