Christmas Greetings from the Good News Team

Valerie

My year of transition has meant lots of travel but I’ve been blessed by the way in which Markus & Saara (and the Team] have taken on most of my responsibilities and things are going so well. I’m in Thailand now, but will be back in Wellington, New Zealand from mid-December. Then next year I’ll be back in Thailand at least twice for Advisory Board meetings, etc. 

Thanks again for your faithful prayers for us all during this year and your partnership in all that God part of teamis doing here. May your Christmas be a blessed and joyful time. 

Saara, Markus, Bea and Alisa

This year has been busy, and we have learned so much from Valerie and the Team! We are excited to be part of this wonderful ministry. We also feel the urgency to work now when the schools around Thailand continue to be open for the Gospel! We pray that the Lord will guide us forward also with some new projects the Team has planned for the next year. Wishing you all a Christmas filled with peace and joy!

First, I want to thank God for our Team and the privilege we have to tell Thai children about Jesus. So many children have received His love and salvation, and the answers they need. My burden also is for children who've been abused and/or want to change their sex.  I pray they'll come to know and understand God's love in these things.

great teamTaking part in the Leadership Matters Course for two weeks was a real blessing. We learned several key issues about being a leader, such as how to have better communication and how to concentrate more on the positive.  I believe God is doing new things among us so that the Team’s ministry can continue to be fruitful and we can serve the children doing our lessons even better than before.

The three years I’ve been in the Team have been a great blessing for me personally, and I thank God for His grace. I send our booklets to school libraries. This is a blessing to me and there is lots of positive feedback from teachers about the booklet. Also I’m happy that this year there are more children than before who want to do our lessons. Please pray that each one will come to know Jesus!

"Because of love" is the title of our cartoon booklet this year. Thanks for your prayers for this booklet. Again this year, I was amazed at how God led us as we worked on it, and also I was excited at how many people helped us - including an artist from Finland who did one cartoon story. Our aim and prayer is that every child who gets this booklet will come to know Jesus, and come into a local Church.

This year we had outreaches in 56 schools in 7 different provinces, and I saw how God opened the hearts of children and teachers everywhere. We also had the chance to meet and encourage some Christian teachers on our travels. We praise God especially for his work in Udon Thani where, after our visit, the local church was able to develop an excellent relationship with many teachers. Since then, this church has had many opportunities to share about God’s love with children and teachers at these schools.

I’ve enjoyed rewriting our Bible lessons. Our goal is to make them more relevant for this new generation. I thank God for the wisdom he has given us to choose the right stories and Bible verses to support each topic. For me personally, God has been teaching  me how important it is to learn to see the positive side of things and be open to new things from Him.

 

Children's Letters from this Month

Nattamon (13):  Could you please send the Bible lessons to three friends of mine who don’t know God yet? I enjoyed reading the children’s magazine and I think also my friends would like it. Please pray for me too because I’m the only one in my family who believes in Jesus.

Piyada (11): I’m very happy I can study the correspondence course! I’m asking you to pray for my mother that she would drink less alcohol and speak more nicely to me. Now she often uses harsh language.

Parichard (13): I’ve got many questions to you: I’m a buddhist but also have faith in Jesus. Is that a sin? If I cannot go to church, does Jesus still answer my prayers? If I do something wrong even though I try to be good, does Jesus still love me and give me a new chance? Thank you for listening to my questions!

Thidarat (16): I asked God to help me to study better, and after that I felt that I started to understand more! Now I’m praying that my parents would learn to know Jesus. I would like my whole family to become Christian.

After a busy December, in January the Team will concentrate on answering children’s letters and on the Bible lessons (marking, revising etc). 

These are our main prayer needs for January;
13-16th Markus & NoiNon will be in a Conference for Pastors of Full Gospel Churches and have opportunities to share about the Team’s work.
