Report from EGM Pakistan

Greetings from Pakistan.

I am glad to share with you a report of the Afghan Refugees Sewing Programme. We started the first of four new courses in District Malakand in October 2024. The Malakand Sewing Centre continues to serve as a beacon of hope for underprivileged women, especially those from marginalized Afghan/ Pashtun communities. Through practical skill-building and spiritual encouragement, we are empowering women to become self-sufficient and confident contributors to their families and society.

Recent Events

A total of 10 students enrolled and they all graduated after six months.

The sewing classes were held daily on Monday to Friday and focused on both theory and hands-on training. Skills taught included stitching, embroidery, cutting, and fabric design.

Each day there was a devotion time and teaching on Christian moral values.

Many women expressed personal growth, joy, and hope through their training and interaction with the Word of God. There were six Afghan Muslim women, and four Afghan believer women enrolled and taking the classes and all took part in the daily devotion time.

The teacher is a Pashtun believer.

Personal Stories

NNB, a 47-year-old from a poor Pashtun background, came to the centre with no formal education. Today, she can confidently stitch dresses and dreams of starting her own small business after completion of the training. Her husband and a few family members accepted Christ in 2023. She now reads the Bible in Pashto and has shared her faith journey with her fellow students. Despite it being very dangerous to proclaim her faith among Muslims, she boldly shared her testimony with other women in the centre.

Prayer and Praise Points

graduation1) Please pray for spiritual growth and protection over the women and their families
2) We thank God for the impact this centre is making in Malakand

We also thank Bright Hope World for their part in this mission. We are sowing seeds of hope, dignity, and the Gospel through these sewing programmes.

Blessings and love
