Background

The Bright Hope Nagaland (BHN) ministry was dedicated with a prayer by Rev. Tzudir Pastor DABA on 11th April 2006, following the MOU between Bright Hope World, New Zealand and Rev Subong Aier, Director of Bright Hope Nagaland. Bright Hope Nagaland thus started the ministry with the focus on upliftment of the people through community development, social upliftment, evangelism and church planting etc.

trained lots of peopleDuring the past years hands-on training was provided to farmers at the Bright Hope Nagaland campus in livestock rearing, fodder cultivation and allied activities. During the course of its existence the need for health care in the far flung rural areas especially in the border areas was identified and thus the medical ministry was incorporated.

Having conceived a future direction and strategy of operation, an MoU was signed in 2016 between ABAM, which is the Apex body of Ao Baptist Church Associations, the Nagaland Mission Movement (NMM) and Woodland Nursing Home based in Mokokchung, and Bright Hope Nagaland for a period of five years. The MoU was later extended for a period of three years w.e.f. 2018 to 2020.

newly qualifiedThe role of ABAM is to provide pastoral care to the candidates and if necessary will also provide ministerial support to the Public Health Worker’s (PHW)s or DHAI’s. The Dhai’s, after being identified, will be trained at Woodland Nursing Home with necessary medical training for a year and technical supports on the field. Bright Hope Nagaland will see to the logistics and funding for the trainees. The terms and conditions of the trainees were, when they pass out the training they will go back to their respective villages and help them in providing medical help as well as educating their villagers on personal hygiene and cleanliness etc. Follow-up programmes or refresher training will be held from time-to-time for these Dhai trainees.

The role of NMM is to provide organizational support for the programme and seek funding together with Bright Hope Nagaland. All these activities will be supervised by a committee comprising members from the signatories.

new skillsWith the passing of time Bright Hope Nagaland saw the need to focus attention for the younger generation especially those people seeking jobs in the private sectors. The Bright Hope Training Institute of Skill Development (BHTISD) was conceived and started catering to many of our Naga unemployed youths by providing them placement in various hotels and MNC’s within and outside the state since 2016. The BHTISD imparts basic training skills on hospitality, stewardship, food and beverages, housekeeping, front desk etc and has completed its seventh batch of students at present.

Now under the umbrella of BHN three different branches function:
(i) Animal Husbandry (IND12)
(ii) Medical Ministry (IND12a)
(iii) Bright Hope Training Institute of Skill Development,
each with different operations but with a purpose to help and uplift the people of our state to thrive economically, socially and spiritually.
