Dear prayer partner,
Greetings in the Lord’s name, “I lie down and sleep, I wake again, because the Lord sustains me. I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side”.
The Pan Africa Brethren Conference was held in Kenya and more than 15 African countries were represented.
Although the work in Mozambique is growing fast in the number of local assemblies, it is the youngest Brethren work in Africa, beginning in 1999. Mission was the subject of our speakers, provoking the participant countries to make a difference in communities with the gospel and good works.
September came with its own joy. We saw sparks of life in the eyes of three of our sisters in the assembly whose lives were at the point of death. We did not only pray for them but provided Christian care and nursing.
The 6th September was a wonderful day for us as we witnessed Mumba, our second born son, getting married to Jessica. They met in Johannesburg during a Youth for Christ Camp, on which Mumba was the team leader for the Mozambique youth. The wedding bells were far reaching, and the brethren from Cape Town, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and Zimbabwe were of great support.
In September we travelled to Kwa Zulu Natal province South Africa, where the Brethren Assemblies came together on 14th September for a one day Bible conference in Pietermaritzburg city.
We held a five day youth camp at Drakensberg Mountain camp. The first day of our meeting was raining and freezing with the temperature only getting up to 4°C in the day and going down to 1°C at night. If the cold had continued we would have been the most miserable couple ever to visit Drakensberg Mountain.
However in this age of cell phones and head phones, I witnessed boys and girls abandoning their cell phones and their head phone music. The teenaged boys and girls gave themselves to the authority of God’s word and the leadership of Glenn Andrews and two other brothers, Grant and Tim Gibbs. The five days were well spent, thank you for praying.
Back in Maputo Mozambique, 80% of our local assembly members are young people. A lot of work is at hand with different age groups.
1) 18 to 26 October 2013 church growth teachings
2) 4th November we are travelling to Zambezia Province (2,000 kilometres) for the new work
3) December - one week Children's Holiday Bible Club Machava in Maputo. 200 children will attend of which 90% are orphans. For some it will be the first time they have attended while for others it will be the last, as they join a different group.
4) We are in need of stationary for the 2014 school year and 50 to 60 children are in need of blankets.
God bless yours in Christ,
P & G Mulenga
