Update from Fountain of Hope

On behalf of the Fountain of Hope team, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to Bright Hope World for the unwavering support you continue to render to our communities, children, and young people across Zimbabwe. Your partnership is not just financial — it is a lifeline of dignity, hope, and transformation.

Through your generosity, families are being lifted from poverty, children are being restored to safety and opportunity, and young people are being equipped with skills that ignite hope for a brighter future. The support you provide restores dignity where it was lost, strengthens fragile households, and gives communities the courage to dream again.

We are deeply inspired by the way your involvement has empowered Fountain of Hope to stand with downtrodden communities. This commitment has not gone unnoticed — the Government of Zimbabwe has recognized the impact of our work and has invited Fountain of Hope to participate in Livelihood Assessment exercises.

We thank God for the testimonies being written in Makamure, Peniel, Mthombothemba, Chikofa, Heany, Majiji, and Mtshazo. Lives are being challenged, changed, and renewed. Hope is rising where despair once reigned.

Community

The Mtshazo Community lies deep in Matabeleland South province, a region often described as the place where hunger has made its permanent home. The rains are poor, the soils are sandy and unable to sustain crops, and the land resembles a semi-desert where survival is for the fittest.

Families here often go for days without food. School dropouts are high, HIV/AIDS prevalence is alarming, and public schools record a 0% pass rate. Many people risk their lives by illegally crossing into neighbouring countries in search of food, with tragic outcomes that leave behind widows and orphans.

It is into this hard place that Fountain of Hope, with the support of Bright Hope World, has ventured — determined to restore dignity and ignite hope through both practical and spiritual transformation.

Recent Events

Transformation Centre and Pre-school

In Mtshazo village, Fountain of Hope runs a Transformation Centre that includes a pre-school for children who cannot access formal education.
• 28 children are currently enrolled, all from challenging backgrounds.
• The pre-school provides not only early education but also daily meals, ensuring children can learn without the distraction of hunger.
• For many families, this pre-school is a lifeline — without it, their children would have no access to education or nutrition.

Goat Revolving Project

Because Mtshazo is so dry, cropping often fails — sometimes for five consecutive years without meaningful rainfall. Recognizing this, Fountain of Hope introduced a Goat Revolving Project, which is now benefiting 28 families in Mtshazo, Sibona, and Gwakwe.

Advantages of the Goat Project
• Resilience in Dry Lands: Goats thrive in semi-desert conditions where crops fail.
• Nutritional Value: Goat milk is rich in nutrients and especially beneficial for young children and babies.
• Income Generation: Families can sell surplus goats or milk, creating sustainable livelihoods.
• Food Security: Goats provide a reliable source of protein and milk, reducing dependence on uncertain harvests.
• Community Empowerment: The revolving nature of the project ensures that more families benefit over time, fostering unity and shared responsibility.

The project is thriving, and we are confident it will produce lasting fruit in this community.

Faith and Community Transformation

These initiatives are not only addressing physical hunger but also breaking spiritual hunger. Farming clubs and community gatherings around the Transformation Centre and goat project have become places where the Word of God is preached freely. Families are coming to Christ, growing together in faith, and discovering hope in the midst of hardship.

Comments

Mtshazo is a region once defined by despair, but today, through education, farming innovation, and livestock projects, families are experiencing renewal. Children are learning, families are harvesting food and milk, and communities are being drawn closer to Christ.
