Activities

In January, Rebecca travelled to Lulamba to visit with Elizabeth, Joseph and Mwela. They went together to the bank to withdraw the funds that were sent to supply the school requirements for the orphans.

There are 12 orphans remaining on the programme, seven boys and five girls, as shown in the photo listing the names.

They received school bags, shoes, uniforms, books, pens, pencils and papers for use at school. Plus, some other home items such as soap and shoe polish.

The orphans were very thankful and happy to receive these items.

struggling nowTeam

Rebecca currently is not that well, living in her home in Chavuma. Her asthma is not good and she is struggling. Her retirement house has no ceiling boards and the floor is dirt, making it hard to remain dust free.

Elizabeth and Mwela continue to carry on but they are struggling with mobility. They managed to get to the bank in January with Rebecca to withdraw the funds for the orphan’s programme, but it was a real struggle.

Ideas for the Future

We are continuing with the reduction in funds each year as was decided by the group in 2025, as per the budget below.

Rebecca is very ok with this and says, “in the bible there is a time and a season for everything, and our season is coming to an end because of age”.

December 2026: $1,000
December 2027: $500

health concernsComments

The ladies are continuing to do what they can, but their capacity is very much hindered by age and health concerns.

It is difficult with the plan to stop the orphan's support in two years’ time as there will still be 10 pupils going to school who have not finished at that time, even so we need to stay with the agreement that we have with the ladies. They are saying that they have already discussed this with the orphans and guardians so that it will not be a surprise.
