Report from Antonia YaltaThe guests were speakers from Lima, one of them being Manuel Salazar. Different topics were discussed, including How to correct problems in life, The doctrine of God, Transformed by Christ, Baptism and How to be faithful to God. People from seven communities participated.
I had the opportunity to teach teenagers who came from different places. I taught them the topics: Know Your Heart and How to Evangelize with the ‘Book Without Words’. I thank the Lord for the 12 teenagers who received Christ.
We took advantage of the moment and gave them new clothes that we received as a donation. We also had some used shoes, and we distributed them to those who came from the community of Pomporito. We had prioritized them because the children lacked shoes.
In the afternoons, we enjoy time with them, teaching them how to make bracelets with their own names.
Trip to AtalayaWe travelled, with the pastoral team, to visit the Romanian missionaries who are in Atalaya. We were able to spend time with each family, encouraging them in the ministry God has entrusted to them. Also, at the same time, I was able to see the children of the missionaries and spend time with them.
Deysi Soto and her two youngest children went to harvest cocoa on their farm, and I wanted to take the opportunity to spend more time with them. So, I asked my friend to take me on his motorbike to help them.
It was really a difficult day of work because of the strong heat and hunger we had. The few loaves I brought I shared with them and Daniel enjoyed this moment soaking the bread in the cocoa juice and eating it. It is really worth getting more involved in their lives because this way I continue to learn more about their customs and gain more of their trust. Now Deysi calls me a friend and that gives me more confidence in the friendship with her.
Years ago, I felt the challenge of going to the communities to evangelize the children, but I did not know how to do it seeing that there are so many children who do not know Christ because of the lack of Sunday school teachers.
One day I asked the Lord how to do this work, and He guided me in taking prayer cards from the children of the lower Perené and giving them to different people to pray for them. I will continue to seek out more information from other ethnicities where Segadores is working to get more children's prayer cards (see photo below).
One night a teacher came to my house to tell me that he wanted to be reconciled with God. He acknowledged his sin, and I told him about 1 John 1:9. With tears in his eyes he prayed to God in his language, telling Him that he wants to serve Him.
But later I found out that the professor had to travel to Lima because of an infection in his kidneys (he was suspected of cancer). But God has worked in him, and he no longer needs the operation. The doctors were surprised. His mother, who is the healer of the community, was also amazed by what God has done.
Now the teacher is back in the community and attends church with his wife. She came to my house one day to ask me for a Bible.
We gave it to them in the hope that God will continue to do His work in them.
Prayer Requests1) May God guide me as I work in unity with the multicultural team.
2) May God provide for the Christmas campaigns for the gifts needed for the children; it is an opportunity not only to bring gifts but the Gospel to different communities.
3) May God renew my strength to continue on the mission field carrying His Word in favour of the less reached.
4) We see the urgency of constructing a perimeter fence around the missionary house in Aoti. We ask God for provision for this, as it is a necessity for the safety of the missionaries' children.
I thank all of you for investing your time in prayer in favour of the work in our Peruvian jungle.
