Gilead Camp

life changing timesA heartfelt "Thank You" to you, our faithful friends and partners of Manara International. Because of your ongoing prayers, love and support we are able to continue with our Gilead Camp ministry in Jordan, where countless souls have been saved and lives have been changed.

Gilead Camp is not just a fun camping experience for teens, it's a safe place to encounter God and ask the hard questions about living in an increasingly complex world. Young people have a chance to gather in one of the most unique venues in the Middle East, and share their struggles and problems. Our trained and enthusiastic counsellors, all who have been blessed many summers past at Gilead Camp, help these young seekers to find acceptance and friendship in an atmosphere that loves Jesus.

time to shareOn the last night of their Gilead Camp experience, each teen is given an opportunity to express what they have learned and experienced. The following is what one boy shared who recently attended Camp Gilead for the first time..."I never want to go any religious event - I always avoid them. But somehow, my friends convinced me to come with them - and I can say now that this was not a coincidence. When I came, I had so many questions on my mind - that have now been answered. I am now so much closer to God because of this camp. I am so grateful for Gilead Camp."

Every Gilead participant takes home a new Bible, along with the happy anticipation of coming back next year. Parents are thrilled to see their young campers have a wonderful time, but most importantly, encouraged on how their children are taught to stand firm for the Lord - and not fear the future.

improved security

Raising security at Gilead Camp continues, as the fence that encircles the camp needs to be mended - or in some places completely replaced because of large holes. The safety of our campers is very important to us and the camp site is used by many other Christian ministries throughout the summer. Raising security with the installation of cameras has been a big step in the right direction. For your help in this matter, and your continuing assistance, we humbly thank you.

Refugee Support

The flow of refugees continues. Many displaced Iraqi families are arriving in Amman weekly from places like Mosul. Like those before them, they come with vital needs - such as food, water, clothing, mattresses and basic life necessities which they do not have.

meeting needsThe refugees' physical need is great, but we are happy to report that their spiritual need is being met through our welcoming Christian churches in Jordan. Loss and sadness for what has happened to these individuals and to their home country is being met by the love of Jesus and hope for the future.

Baptisms

We are excited to share with you news of 6 recent baptism events in the Jordan River. Each baptism has included no less than 12 different people from various backgrounds. These men and women have found an eternal home with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Please pray with us for these new believers to be rooted in faith - that their great need for care and nourishment would be filled.
