It is always an exciting time when we are updating you as our prayer partners and financial support of Bethesda ministries. We give God the glory and honour for your commitment to such noble cause.
Teen Street Conference
OM Zambia Teen Street ministry held a youth conference in Zambia for over 700 young people from across the Nation. Over 16 Bethesda children were sent to participate in the conference raising the inclusiveness of all ministries in OM Zambia and Africa at large. The conference organizers were impressed to see a higher level of participation of the Bethesda young adults which included even outreach in the communities of Kabwe.
Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish to shame those who think they are wise. And He chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important 1 Cor 1:27-28.
Women Savings
The women of our Bethesda special children meet every Tuesday for DBS, prayers, and empowerment skills so they can provide for their children. Since mothers to our special needs are mostly single mothers as they been abandoned by the husbands, the savings and empowerment skills have lifted their confidence in society.
All Ability Sports Training
All Ability Sports training has been key to engaging in effective disciple making to people living with disabilities. About 20 more coaches were trained in Mbale, Zambia. The training caused participants to realize that people living with disabilities have abilities and gifts that they can use to be part of a disciple making movement through sports.
Transform Disability Training in the Copperbelt
We have seen how God has been connecting the ministry of Bethesda to the local church in Zambia and across the borders. Transform disability training is helping the African church to become a church without barriers. More church leaders were trained in the Copperbelt of Zambia, and it was really a good thing seeing leaders from churches that do not open to OM Zambia trainings because of the doctrines and traditions.
Joshua
Joshua happened to be one of the people who attended all ability sports training and is a full-time missionary from Zimbabwe. Joshua expressed how he felt guilt about his neglecting people with disabilities without thinking about reaching out to them. He has a master’s in theology and yet, all the schools he has attended do not talk about these things. What shocked him also is the fact that over 1 billion of the world's population are people living with disabilities. He feels it is high time theological schools start to include studies on inclusivity of the Kingdom of God and promised to champion the move.
Isaac Simwwinga
All Ability sports training has transformed my mind in terms of how I have been looking at people with a disability. I am surprised to see that people with disabilities have special abilities and gifts that we can use to uplift them. After the training, my perspective has completely changed, and I will start to engage with them.
Joyce Namfukwe
I have been challenged about my perspective on disability. Not that I mistreated them, but the fact that I pitied them not knowing that they have potential to do greater in life. Sometimes because of their disability, I thought they are already heaven bound without the gospel. I would be in outreach sharing the gospel and I will be even supposing them, what a shame, said Joyce.
Praise
1) Join us in praising God for impact of both the trainings done last month
