very much missed

Unfortunately, on the 7th of September Robert Gitau passed away. Seeing a great need, Robert and his wife Rose started the Ponu clinic, Forward Green Hostel (orphanage), Nguluni Countryside School, and the church in the early 2000's. Robert was well respected by his community and invested a large part of his life to helping people. His wife Rose had passed away a number of years earlier.

We visited Forward Green and were able to pay our respects to Robert at his burial site. We also met with two of the first boys (Erik and Benson) Robert took into his home when they were only 2 years old. They have now both graduated from college with degrees and are back to help at the home and continue Robert's legacy. I asked them about the plan now with the children and financially. They said that it is early days, and they are still grieving and adapting to the loss. They do not know yet what the plan is going forward or where the financial support will be coming from, but they are keen to make it work.

They still have Rose who is the house mumma and cook. She has been there from the beginning. They also have a live-in social worker who supports the children. Together we hope that they can come up with a plan for the future.

Current Issues and Challenges

There are many issues here that the team will need to work out and a plan be made going forward. The boys said the social worker had had a meeting about the children so hopefully she is sorting things out.

1) Prayer is needed for Erik and Benson, for strength and wisdom on the next steps to take.
2) Protection and provision for the children and the home.
3) Prayer for the all of the children who have been living in the home, for their futures.
4) Prayer of thanks for all that Robert committed to the community and the children in his care.
