News from the Fields

Nepal

special timeI have been following up those who have accepted Christ as Lord and Saviour, encouraging new believers, conducting bible studies and having prayer meetings too. Ma* and Ra* are two of the new converts. They are relatives and were living in the village of Gi*.

Since accepting Christ as their Lord and Saviour, they have been persecuted by their family and village community. The majority of the villagers are staunch followers of a different faith and strongly reject Christianity.

As a result of their faith in Christ, this couple have been cast out of their home and community. Their family circle's rejection has caused them much suffering and each day is a challenge to survive. Very often, they go without food and, for the most part, I am caring for them. They are preparing for baptism and participating in Christian fellowship. (Shila)

Malawi

sharing good newsMr. Bo* is a widower. He came to Jesus on 28 December 2024 after an open-air meeting in a central region of Malawi. The good news is that he joined a Baptist church on 5 January 2025. The sad news is that seven years ago, he was bitten by a snake while farming in the fields and has not fully recovered from the side effects, despite several visits to hospitals. He is able to walk short distances and cook for himself. We praise God that he has been delivered from alcoholism and drunkenness. (Mateyo)

Mozambique

After being trained at SOWERS Level 3, Pastor Mav began training Sowers teams at Level 1. Many people were won to Christ at the SI open-air meetings that followed. By visiting the new converts, Pastor Mav* was able to plant a new evangelical church and growth has resulted in a large number of believers in the area. (Alfredo)

At an open-air meeting, a lady who turned to prostitution after she was widowed, responded to the invitation to accept Christ as her Lord. She asked God for forgiveness for her sins and is now attending church. (Amor)

Zambia

sharing good newsI was preaching in a village. Mr Ch*, a demon possessed beer drinker who dreamt about killing people, was there. The entire village was afraid of him. During the open-air meeting, he heard the message and responded to the invitation to receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour. I counselled him and prayed for him.

Early the next morning, this man came to me again and said that he wanted to be freed from beer drinking and his dreams about killing people. We prayed again and I spent more time counselling him. He renounced his deeds and confessed his sins to Jesus. Praise God! He is now a changed person. (Evaristo)

A SOWERS team in one district was facing the following problem. People in need of food and clothing were reaching out to them for help, and they responded by giving the little they had. They have now come up with a longer-term solution. They had a piece of land for farming and rented another piece of land in order to help grow food for the needy. (Titus)

training others

Recently, Emmanuel (DRC), visited Ariwara in the north of the country to train Level 3 Sowers. Following the training, the new Level 3 decided to teach the lesson 'How to be used by God' to all the members of his church. There were 97 people present. When the invitation was given, 87 people came forward to respond to the call of confession of sins, and 26 others were counselled.

Zimbabwe

I relocated to Do* in November last year. One Friday afternoon l decided to present the gospel to my new community. Armed with my tried-and-true sketch board, I went out into the street, an unusual sight in the remote village. Standing in front of the sketch board, holding a brush in my hand, I gave a loud whistle and started painting stick figures. A handful of curious villagers gathered to investigate and to satisfy their curiosity.  This gave me the opportunity to share a message of God's love, forgiveness of sin, hope and salvation to them. In a short time, they were caught up in God's 'love net'. Carefully, I extended an invitation for them to receive Christ as Lord and Saviour.  After counselling those who gave their lives to Christ, they said to me "There are no churches nearby. What must we do? We need to know more about God and regularly attend Church services."

Taken aback by their request, l said, "If you are serious, let's meet on that mountain at 10am Sunday." That Sunday, three ladies and one couple came with their children. We had wonderful service on the mountain. As it was pouring with rain the following week, we could not meet on the mountain. We continued to meet there until eventually, the men decided to build a temporary structure where we could conduct Sunday services. A shelter was erected, and we have already held two services there. Praise God! (Edmond)

News from the Regional Advisors

RA – Central/West Africa (Emmanuel - DR Congo)

‘’I can do all things through Him who strengthens me’’ (Philippians 4:12).

I would like to bless the faithfulness of God who has done great works in the lives of many through my activities over the past three months. In total, six open air meetings were held in Ariwara, Lubumbashi (DRC), and Bangui (CAR), and souls were won to Christ. I also held four training sessions, three of which were for Levels 1 & 3 Sowers and one for the members of the CAR National Board.

My greatest joy is to see how the SOWERS ministry is currently being regarded as a priority in Ariwara (DRC) and Bangui (CAR). Relying on the same faithfulness of God for myself, I trust for similar results during my upcoming visits to Kolwezi (Level 2 in July) and Kasenga (Levels 1 & 3 in August). To God be the glory!

RA – Southern Africa (Godfrey - Malawi)

I am currently in the Northwestern province of Zambia meeting Senior Sowers, SOWERS Provincial Committees and SOWERS Teams. From here I will travel to Lusaka for the Coordinators conference and 2025 AGM.

The past three months have been a mixed bag of family and ministry activities. It has been a time of farming and sowing. I had to help my family harvest maize, dry it and store it. We harvested early because hungry people were stealing it to feed themselves. Apart from farming I travelled to the Northern, Southern and Eastern regions of Malawi to visit and encourage Senior Sowers, Teams, Coordinators and committees. It was encouraging to hear how teams are regularly conducting open air meetings and reaching their communities with the SOWERS Program.

I have four upcoming visits for Zimbabwe in June, Namibia in September, Mozambique in October and Zimbabwe in December. I always thank God for your prayers and support for the gospel.

RA – East Africa (Emmanuel - Kenya)

I've been actively engaged with SOWERS teams, providing support and guidance where needed. Highlights include conducting SOWERS seminars, visiting churches, and meeting with pastors to discuss strategic priorities. I've also been working on planning and outreach efforts to expand SOWERS' reach and impact. Notably, I visited Tanzania for a Board meeting and survey for printing SOWERS material, and the outcome was very positive.

One of the most encouraging aspects of our ministry has been the impact of our seminars on church leaders and members. For example, Pastor A. shared, saying it was an "eye-opener" that equipped him with practical skills to share the Gospel effectively and grow his church. We've also seen souls saved in open-air meetings, and church leaders empowered to share the Gospel with their congregations.

As we move forward, I'd like to request prayer for the East Africa region, that God will continue to open doors for ministry and that our teams will be equipped to share the Gospel effectively. Also, in August, I will visit Uganda to explore ministry opportunities and partnerships.

Thanks for your continued support and partnership.
