Greetings in the dear name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I wish to thank you so much for the great impact you are making on the previously unskilled people of these communities. The reports below show you how:
(i) the women of Kinyomozi who were trained last year and were tested by the government were found qualified to get a national certificate in tailoring. At a recent colourful ceremony, they excitedly graduated.
(ii) The trainees in tailoring who started this year from Najjemba, are doing very well.
(iii) The trainees of Nansana - Kampala are also doing well in tailoring and hair dressing.

Kinyomozi Graduation
We thank the entire Bright Hope World team for supporting this project, which has empowered women and girls of Kinyomozi village through tailoring skills training. This training has equipped the women of Kinyomozi with vital garment making skills that are going to help create a better future for themselves and their community.
After mastering the skills learned from the training, a graduation ceremony was held to celebrate the women and girls hard work and achievement. The ceremony was:
- Blessed by pastor Joseph Bakobe from Kinyomozi Dove church
- Honoured of the subcounty chief Kiryandongo district.
- Attended by the community youth councillor, women councillor, local council chairperson, community members from Kinyomozi and Nyakagando villages
The ceremony included:
a) Award of certificates: Certificates were awarded from the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) in recognition of their outstanding performance in the 2024 assessment.
b) Distribution of startup kits: 10 girls and women received tailoring machines to start their businesses and train other girls in the community, focusing on vulnerable individuals such as victims of teenage pregnancies, early marriage, school dropouts, and domestic violence.
Najjemba Course
We are grateful for the support of Bright Hope World and are excited about the progress made so far. We believe that this project has the potential to transform the lives of the women and girls in Najjemba community.
Since January 2025, we have made significant progress in implementing the project.
Achievements
1) Mobilization and Sensitization: We successfully mobilized the Najjemba women and community stakeholders, sensitizing them about the project's objectives and benefits.
2) Registration and training: We registered 10 women and girls as beneficiaries and hired trainers to equip them with tailoring skills.
3) Skills Acquisition: The girls and women have acquired skills in;
- Oil, cleaning, and maintaining sewing machine,
- Peddling and operating sewing machines,
- Drafting, measuring, and cutting materials,
- Joining and sewing fabrics together
They have produced various items, including aprons, dresses, skirts, shirts and other fabrics.
Planned Activities
1) Provide training on producing more complex garments, such as shirts, skirts, and shorts.
2) Register the beneficiaries for the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) assessment.
3) Conduct the DIT assessment to evaluate the beneficiaries' skills.
4) Host a graduation ceremony and award certificates to the beneficiaries.
5) Distribute startup kits to the beneficiaries to support them in launching their own tailoring businesses.
6) Ensure that the beneficiaries remain engaged to train other women and girls in the community.
Nansana Course
We extend our heartfelt thanks to you for your support and commitment to empowering vulnerable girls and women. The trainees are very appreciative of the trainings and are so eager to continue learning.
We are happy to share the progress of our project, which aims to provide quality entrepreneurial development skills to adolescent girls and vulnerable women in Nansana, Kampala, skills in hairdressing and tailoring. The following activities have been achieved since January 2025;
1) Community mobilization and sensitization: We successfully mobilized the girls and women from the community and sensitized them about the project. They later registered for the trainings.
2) Trainings: The trainings kicked off in hairdressing and tailoring, with participants learning valuable skills.
- In hairdressing the trainees have learnt to wash hair, comb, plait braids, install wigs, make wigs, twist hair (threes and twos)
- In tailoring the trainees have learnt pedal sewing machines, maintain sewing machines, make dresses, make shirts, make aprons, make short sleeved shirts, make shorts and are still working on other projects
Planned Activities (April - June 2025)
1) Register the beneficiaries for assessment by the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT).
2) Participants will sit for their exams.
3) Host a graduation ceremony to celebrate the trainees’ achievements.
4) Distribute startup kits to support the beneficiaries for starting their own businesses.
Mbabazi Enid
Enid, one of the project beneficiaries from Kinyomozi village, expressed her gratitude to TAN and Bright Hope World. She shared that before graduation she utilized her skills to create garments in high demand during the Christmas season. The income generated enabled her to establish a small garment store in the nearby town.
Enid plans to use the awarded machine to train girls from her community interested in learning tailoring. She aspires to enhance her skills and become a trainer at Touch Africa Now, a dream she's eager to pursue.
